I just finished watching District 9, and had been thinking about how much it reminded me of this short film that I saw online maybe 5 years ago. I couldn’t remember the name of it… then in the middle of District 9, I found the easter egg — when they break into the MNU bio-lab it’s called “Tetra Vaal bio security.” I looked up “Tetra Vaal” when I got home, and found it — directed by none other than Neil Blomkamp. It has the same brilliant/gritty special effects and mashup of high-tech/third world politics as seen in D-9.
